A clean CPAP works better, lasts longer, and is far more comfortable to use. Here is a realistic care routine — what to wash weekly, what to replace monthly, and what to skip.
The weekly routine
Once a week, wash your mask cushion, tubing, and water chamber in warm water with a drop of mild dish soap. Rinse well and air-dry away from direct sunlight. Daily, empty the water chamber and let the mask air out — that alone prevents most odor and skin irritation.
Replacement schedule
Mask cushions wear out and leak: replace them about monthly. Filters keep dust out of your airway: check monthly and replace as directed. Tubing and the full mask frame typically last three months; the water chamber about six. Most insurance plans cover supplies on this schedule.
Skip the gimmicks
You do not need ozone or UV sanitizing machines — the FDA has warned they can damage equipment and have not been proven safe. Warm water, mild soap, and fresh supplies on schedule are what keep therapy working. If your equipment whistles, leaks, or smells despite cleaning, contact our equipment team for a fit check.
